Entitlement

Following people are entitled to apply for ICU Library Friends.

• 1. Those who graduate ICU College of Liberal Arts or ICU Graduate School
• 2. Family member of present ICU full-time faculty or full-time ICU staff, at the age of 18 or higher （consanguinity of the first or second degree, excluding high school students.）
• 3. Those who once enrolled to ICU CLA or Graduate School as a student for a year or longer
• 4. Those who once enrolled to ICU as a full-time faculty
• 5. Member of Friends of ICU (FOI)
• 6. Researchers who are permitted by the ICU Library Director (Guarantor's signature required)
• 7. Faculty members of following ICU affiliate universities: Tokyo Union Theological Seminary, Japan Lutheran College, Toho-Gakuen College of Music.

Annual Fee

Please pay by Shoshi when you take the card.

• 2,000 yen for the person in categories 1 to 6.
• 6,000 yen for the person in categories 6 and wish to borrow 10 books at a time.
• Free for the person in category 7.

Validity Period

• 1 year for the person in categories 1 to 6.
• Until the end of March

How to Apply

New Application

• You will receive your new library card after 14:00 on the next open day (weekday) after the day of application. You can borrow materials after receiving the library card. If the library is closed on the next day of your application, you will receive your library card on the next open day. If you wish to pick up your library card on Saturday, please apply by Thursday.
• If you apply in person, the application form will be accepted, but please note that you will not be able to borrow materials on the day of your application. If you wish to borrow materials on the day of your visit and receive your library card, please send us an application form by e-mail (dsc[at]icu.ac.jp) in advance.

Renew Application

If you already have a card and wish to renew the expiration date, the procedure will be done on the day. After the procedure is completed, you will be able to borrow books.

1.Please bring your application form filled to the Document Supply Center of the Library or send it to us by e-mail (dsc [at]icu.ac.jp). Be sure to secure files when you apply beforehand by sending the e-mail attached form for your safety. Do not send any official documents such as ID Card or files containing your personal information, etc.

• The Library asks applicants in categories 2, 3, and 6 in the above paragraph to prepare application forms signed by one guarantor.
• Only existing ICU teaching staff can be a guarantor for categories 3 and 6. For the renewal of validity, the guarantor's signature is not necessary.
• As for a guarantor in category 2, present ICU educational & general staff can be the one. The guarantor is limited to the applicant's family.

Office Hours(Application and taking a card)

• Weekdays in Term : 8:30-19:30（Taking a card: until 17:30）
• Saturdays in Term: 9:30-19:30（Taking a card: until 16:30）
• Out of Term: 9:30-16:30

For Identification, please show your ID Card (Driver's license, passport, etc.) and pay the enrollment fees at the counter. As for membership in Category 5, please bring your Friends of ICU Card. In category 7, the ICU affiliate university faculty member must show your university's ID Card.

Services

• Number of Books can be borrowed: 3 (10 for the person in category 6.)
• Loan Period: 1 month
• Overdue : If you have an overdue book, you cannot borrow another book.
• Extension : You can extend the loan period by bringing the book to the Document Supply Center as far as there is no reservation is put on the title by others. Only first extension can be done through "MyLibrary" online.
• Checkouts : Please return or renew all the books before you check out another. You can check out up to three books at one time.

Notes:

• Library Friends cannot use ILL and a letter of introduction(visiting other libraries) services.
• Photocopy service is available at actual cost (copying and shipping charges).
• The Othmer Library is not available except for O's cafe.
