Rev. John A. MacLean

The pastor of the Ginter Park Presbyterian Church of Richmond, Virginia, USA. In January 1949, he wrote an article for his church members, titled "A Suggestion-As foolish as the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth" in which he expressed sorrow over Hiroshima and Nagasaki and suggested that Christians make gifts for rebuilding, as a tangible expression of the desire for reconciliation. This article became an ignition to the widespread fund raising campaign throughout the North America for establishing a Christian university in Japan.
