The Old Maps of Osawa

These pictorial maps of Osawa were donated by Ms. Masako Murakoshi to our archives in November 2022. These thirteen plates of the Osawa area were created in 1905 (from the original, 1875.) Ms. Murakoshi is a distant relative of the Miyakawa family, known as the family that produced Isamu Kondo, the head of the Shinsengumi in the late Tokugawa period. The map was copied by Genshichi Miyagawa, the fourth generation head of the Miyagawa branch family. Click on the images to see them in large.
